½ cup firmly packed brown sugar
¼ cup quick-cooking oats
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons cold butter, cut into ½-inch pieces

• In a bowl, combine brown sugar, oats, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Work in butter with fingers or with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
