Basil Syrup

2 cups sugar
2 cups water
1 cup packed fresh basil leaves


• In a small saucepan, combine sugar, water, and basil. Bring to a boil just to melt sugar, stirring occasionally. Let cool to room temperature.

• Strain through a wire-mesh sieve, discarding basil leaves.

• Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
