Darjeeling Tea

Darjeeling Tea
Tea bushes grow on the slopes of the Himalayan foothills where women each pluck approximately 16 pounds of leaf per day.

Tea bushes were planted as early as 1841 on the slopes of Darjeeling, where they have thrived ever since. The first commercial tea garden, according to Jeff Koehler in his book Darjeeling, was planted in 1852, and many others soon followed. The first tea factory did not open for another seven years, however, and the rest, as they say, is history.
