English Cottage Tea

English Cottage Tea
In England, the land that invented afternoon tea, a genial gathering such as this one, doesn’t have to be a formal affair. A table set with fresh flowers and blue-and-white china, assorted tea sandwiches, scones warm from the oven, a few simple sweets, and a nice pot of tea are all you need for a cozy English cottage-style tea.

  1. Very nice! It is interesting to me that the US order of serving tea items is scones first. I have never seen this for a tea served in England. There the savories or sandwiches are served first. I don’t know why this method is preferred in rhe US. But it always takes me by surprise.

  2. I once subscribed to Tea Time and I enjoyed all the magazines immensely and I think I still have a few of them around the bookshelf. Tea Time mags is a treasure trove and thank you for sharing.

  3. I have many pieces of blue and white Spode as well as some other blue and whites from the Bombay Company. This setting just stopped me in my tracks!! WOW! Really beautiful. And the tea looks wonderful. Just got to try those scones. YUM!!

  4. Afternoon Tea or the afternoon meal of High Tea are a wonderful way to entertain. They are both elegant and friendly, gracious and at the same time informal.. I love Tea Time and save every issue.
