Best advice: Arrive hungry! Keep plenty of tummy room to try all the glorious cakes, desserts, and marvelous private-label teas on the menu. But if you find yourself in a hurry, then you may still stop in for tempting fare such as the Hopetoun’s delicious signature pinwheel sandwiches (crusts off, of course); colorful Caribbean crab salad served with tomato mousse quenelles; or light-as-air scones, preserves, and whipped cream with lashings of tea that will fill the bill and get you on your way lickety-split.
After such a delicious feast, there is no room for or talk of dinner—perish the thought! The only solution is to walk and keep on walking, then like a sleepy, sated dormouse drift onto a comfortable chaise, curl up, and take a long and leisurely nap.
