Friday, November 10
Arrive in Birmingham and check into the Elyton Hotel. At 3:30 p.m., an executive coach will transport participants from the hotel to a private club that overlooks the “Magic City,” where you will enjoy a Southern-style afternoon tea, interact with members of the TeaTime team, and learn more about how the magazine is produced.

Saturday, November 11
After a full Southern breakfast at the hotel, you will spend the day baking a variety of tea-appropriate treats in the Hoffman Media Test Kitchens. Lunch will be provided, and we’ll break for teatime in the late afternoon to sample what you have prepared. Spend the evening exploring Birmingham on your own and trying some of our favorite restaurants, many of which are within an easy walk or drive from the hotel.

Sunday, November 12
Eat a hearty breakfast at the hotel before returning to TeaTime’s headquarters for a tasting of teas grown in the USA and for presentations by contributing editor Bruce Richardson and other members of the TeaTime editorial and stylist teams. Anne Forschler-Tarrasch, the Birmingham Museum of Art’s Director of Collections and Exhibitions, will treat us to an exclusive tour of the impressive Wedgwood Collection, the largest in the USA. We will cap off the day with a final afternoon tea. After we return to the hotel, you will have the remainder of the evening free.

Monday, November 13
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the hotel before you check out.

Cancellation
Since the retreat is nonrefundable, we suggest buying trip insurance. If you don’t purchase insurance, you agree to indemnify us against any charges that might have otherwise been covered by your insurance. You further agree that we are not responsible for any costs of cancellation or costs related to COVID-19. Due to COVID-19, there may be limitations relating to activities. Certain services and amenities may be reduced or unavailable as a result of changing circumstances. Please know that we are working closely with our partners in Birmingham to plan and execute a safe retreat for our guests, but there is an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 when traveling. By booking this retreat, you acknowledge and assume these risks associated with travel.

Is breakfast included?
Unless you register as a commuter, this retreat package includes a full Southern breakfast at the Elyton Hotel daily.

I want to bring my travel companion, but they don’t want to participate in the group activities. What can they do?
We offer a “participant + travel companion” package for this very reason! This package allows you to participate in all retreat activities while your travel companion explores Birmingham on their own. As a part of this package, hotel accommodations and a full Southern breakfast are included for your companion.

Are children able to attend this retreat?
All participants must be 18 years old or older to attend this retreat.

What should I plan to wear?
We suggest wearing semi-formal attire (hats optional) for the Friday welcome afternoon tea. For the hands-on baking class on Saturday, comfortable shoes and casual clothing are quite appropriate. (Aprons will be furnished.) On Sunday, smart casual attire will be fine.

How much physical activity can I expect?
Although we will have a private coach to transport us to most of our activities, some walking and standing will be required for the tour of the Wedgwood Collection. You will also be standing for much of Saturday’s hands-on baking class.

If I book a double-occupancy package, will you assign me a roommate?
If you wish to register for a double-occupancy package, you must indicate your roommate’s name when you register. We will not make roommate assignments.

If I book a double-occupancy package, will the hotel room have two beds?
We will do our best to arrange for double-occupancy rooms with two beds. Please advise us when registering that you prefer two beds.

Will we have any free time?
You will have free time each evening to explore Birmingham on your own. We will also equip you with our list of favorite restaurants, local sights, general tips, and more.

To reserve your spot, email ttevents@hoffmanmedia.com. You will be required to pay your registration fee within 48 hours. Reservations will be taken in the order in which we receive emails.
