Lavish gardens welcome guests to the Victorian Parlor in Spring Grove, Pennsylvania. A wicker chair painted a deep purple hue is the ideal spot to take in the garden’s glory, and the gazebo is a lovely place to have tea. You may have the garden all to yourself, except, of course, for the goldfish. Owner Paula Senft admits she loves to shop. She has filled the tearoom with exquisite furnishings and teatime collectibles that heighten the tea experience, including this vintage teapot shaped like a lady and her beau. The Victorian Parlor can seat 60-plus patrons in the main dining room and the Peacock Room, named for the striking stained-glass panel on display over the fireplace, another one of Paula’s finds. At the Victorian Parlor, soup is served in big bowls, scones are always hot out of the oven, and Paula’s cakes are, in the words of her husband, Daryl, “works of art.” Owners Paula and Daryl Senft each have their own duties at the Victorian Parlor. Paula does all the cooking, and Daryl is the designated “tea man,” who not only orders but also pours the blends they serve.
