Tea Amo

Tea Amo

“Tea has been in my life forever. My grandmother, Heather’s great-grandmother, came from a big Irish family. It was always about tea, and we thought it would be a simple thing to serve tea to others,” says Marian. “About seven years ago, before I retired, Heather saw this trailer for sale and came up with the idea to start a mobile tearoom. The trailer was in very rough shape and needed to be completely gutted, but it had enough potential for us to envision what it could become.” So, with a newly purchased, shabby trailer and a large dream, Marian and Heather started Tea Amo.

“Tea Amo is a play on words of te amo, meaning “I love you” in Spanish. The brand is based around our love of tea,” says Heather, the daughter in the mother-daughter team. After extensive renovations on the trailer, including adding three separate sinks, a water-heating system, and a refrigerator—with help from Heather’s father—and careful planning to achieve the desired vintage aesthetic they imagined, a fully functioning “tea party on wheels” now brings the experience of afternoon tea to the doorstep of Hamilton residents. At first, they debuted the mobile tearoom at local festivals and markets to get the word out about their business and then segued into the private events scene, bringing special teatimes with a completely customizable menu to birthday parties, baby showers, corporate events, weddings, and more.
