TeaTime 15: Notable TearoomsThe Royal Tea Room & Gift Shoppe
2719 South MacDill Avenue • Tampa, FL 33629 • 813-837-3000

The Royal Tea Room & Gift Shoppe is in a class all its own. The first tearoom of its kind in the Tampa Bay Area, this elegantly appointed venue, with an adjoining upscale boutique, which sells teawares, home décor, and other lovely gifts, has been in the same location since its opening in 1996. Owner Denise Winter has played the role of head chef since day one and takes great pride in the food she serves. Her cucumber tea sandwiches with herbed cream cheese are a year-round staple on her tea trays, which feature a tier each of scones, savories, and desserts. Traditional afternoon tea is served by reservation at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.

  1. Great tearooms. You must check out Josephine’s in Godfrey, IL. You will love it. Not only excellent food, great atmosphere, but room after room of shopping for clothes and the home. We love it! In fact, I am taking my granddaughter there for her 17th birthday this Saturday. Thanks for listening. Barb Dalby

  2. My granddaughter and I had a weekend tea retreat at several tea shops .in Southern California. We went to the Rose Tree Tea Cottage and also Paris In A Cup. The experience was really very nice. We attended another which was also quite enjoyable. It was the Huntington Library and Museum which has a wonderful tea room.
