Hailing from the mountainous region of northern India, Darjeeling black tea is known for its muscatel grape flavor, which has earned it the moniker “champagne of Indian teas.” Due to the altitude and weather, bushes are harvested during four main growing seasons, or flushes, with first, second, and autumnal flushes being the most favored. First flush teas, in particular, often are brisk and slightly astringent.
